Bedford Inclusive Learning and Training Trust

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is central to everything we do at BILTT. We are fully committed to promoting the welfare of all pupils across our academies and expect every staff member, volunteer, and visitor to share this responsibility.

Our Commitment

We provide safe, caring, and inclusive environments where pupils feel secure, respected, and supported to reach their full potential. Our culture encourages openness, trust, and confidence in being heard.

Safeguarding is led by Trust Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and safeguarding teams in each school. All staff receive regular training and updates to maintain best practice. All senior leaders have advanced safeguarding training.

Across BILTT, our schools:

  • Follow statutory safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Use safer recruitment practices for all staff
  • Work closely with external agencies to share information and support pupils
  • Promote pupil voice and listen to their views
  • Provide safeguarding induction and ongoing staff support
  • Have clear procedures for managing concerns and allegations
  • Teach safeguarding, including online safety, through a broad curriculum
  • Monitor and evaluate safeguarding practices and outcomes
  • Aim to develop sector-leading safeguarding approaches
  • Include school-specific policy appendices
  • Complete annual safeguarding audits

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and together, we create environments where pupils can thrive safely.
