St. John's School Pupils Shine at Boccia Festival: Perfect Eight Wins Secures 1st Place

In a thrilling display of skill and teamwork, two local teams from St. John's School recently participated in the Boccia Festival held on Tuesday 22nd October 2024 at John Bunyan Sports & Fitness as part of the Bedfordshire School Games. Both teams excelled in the tournament, but one emerged victorious, winning all eight of their matches and securing 1st place.

The tournament challenged participants to roll a ball as close as possible to a white jack ball, demanding precision and strategy. Despite the high potential for sensory overload, our young athletes displayed remarkable resilience and focus, outplaying competitors from several mainstream schools.

“This incredible achievement highlights the determination and spirit of our pupils,” said Matthew Wilmot, PE Subject Lead. “They not only showcased their skills in Boccia but also demonstrated the importance of teamwork and perseverance.”

Headteacher Shannon Poulter added, “We are so proud of our pupils. Winning the tournament is a fantastic way to conclude the half term and create lasting memories for our young people. Their success is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”

The victory at the Boccia Festival not only brings pride to St. John's School but also enhances the school's commitment to inclusivity and team spirit in education. The event was a part of the Bedford Borough School Sport Partnership’s ongoing efforts to promote sports within the community.
