Headfest 2025 at Rivertree
On Friday 16 May, Rivertree Free School hosted BBC Local’s Headfest 2025 in partnership with BBC Three Counties Radio. The event brought together pupils from across the Bedford Inclusive Learning and Training Trust (BILTT), giving them the opportunity to enjoy new, enriching experiences that many may not have access to outside of school.
From creative workshops and animal encounters to calming dance, football sessions and hands-on planting with BBC's Mr Bloom, the day was packed with inclusive, sensory-friendly activities. Wildlife presenter Yussef Rafik led an exciting bug hunt, while pupils from Grange Academy supported each session as part of their work experience. A special visit from Pudsey Bear brought smiles all around, spreading joy and positivity to pupils throughout the day.
Clare Breare, Headteacher of Rivertree Free School, said:
"It was a joy to host such a special event. Headfest 2025 was a celebration of inclusion and imagination, and it was wonderful to welcome BBC Three Counties and Look East to share the day with us."
Catherine Assink, CEO and Executive Principal of BILTT, added:
"We loved seeing our pupils across the Trust engage with activities they might never have the chance to try outside of school. Our partnership with BBC Three Counties Radio made this possible, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to work together."
Headfest 2025 was a vibrant celebration of inclusive education, community spirit, and joyful learning for all.
